  • Ramesh

    Nithya Ramesh, BDS, MPH

    Academic Director, Online MPH

    Nithya Ramesh is a dentist with a decade of experience as a public health educator. She completed her residency in dental public health at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she also served as a teaching fellow. Ramesh's research and teaching interests include global oral health policy and epidemiology, social determinants of health, competency-based health education, and the application of mixed-methods research principles.
    An alum of Brown's in-person MPH program, Dr. Ramesh provides curricular leadership and operational oversight of academic affairs for the online MPH program.

  • Hennigan

    Dylan Hennigan

    Program Manager

    Dylan is the Program Manager responsible for overseeing the coordination of Brown's online programs, with a key focus on student support. He holds a Master’s degree in Science Education and began his career as a middle school science teacher. Dylan then transitioned to the role of Adult Education Coordinator before joining Brown. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling.

    Emily McGurl, M.Ed.

    Emily McGurl is the Admissions Coordinator for Online Programs for the School of Public Health at Brown University. She enjoys working with prospective students and guiding them through the admissions process. Prior to working at Brown, Emily was the Assistant Director of Admissions & Operations at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and a Resident Director at Miami University. Emily is an active member of PACAC, the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling. She holds a Bachelors Degree in English from William Paterson University and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership-College Student Affairs from Bloomsburg University. When she is not working, Emily enjoys reading, crafting and spending time with friends and family. Emily lives in Pennsylvania with her loving husband, Michael, daughter, Abigail and dog, Hopper. 

  • Brackett

    Brenda Brackett

    Applied Learning Coordinator

    Brenda Brackett is the Applied Learning Coordinator for the Online Master of Public Health Program. Brenda is responsible for all aspects of the MPH Practicum.  She loves meeting with students to provide resources and guidance on the internship component of the program.  She has been with the program since its inception.  Brenda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Although trained as an Elementary School teacher, Brenda found she didn't need to be in a classroom to teach and over the past 30 years Brenda has worked within the field of education in a variety of settings, working with individuals from the age of 1-100. The last twelve years have been in higher education. Brenda previously worked with the School of Professional Studies here at Brown, as well as at Bennington College and Harvard University.  When not working, Brenda enjoys finding new places to hike with her rescue dog, Roz. Brenda has an adult daughter who also works in the field of Public Health, who influenced her to work at the School of Public Health.

    Alexis Wilson

    Alexis Wilson is the Administrative Coordinator for Advising for Online Programs at SPH. Prior to transferring to SPH, Alexis worked for 7 years in biomedical research with the CARE department and a year with Residential Life. A non-traditional student herself, Alexis utilized Brown’s Employee Education Program to return to school and receive her undergraduate degree in Psychology. Alexis is passionate about making continuing education accessible to all, and breaking down the historically rigid barriers in higher education. When she is not working or in class, Alexis enjoys horror films, film photography, and swimming. Alexis lives in Rhode Island with her loving partner and their two wonderful cats, Alley and Princess Marshmallow.

    Monica Piquette

    Administrative Coordinator for Advising, Online MPH Program

    Monica Piquette is the Coordinator of Advising for the Online MPH program in the School of Public Health at Brown University. Prior to working at Brown, Monica taught Elementary and High School English and Technology, and was a Clinical Child Care worker for Bradley Hospital in East Providence, RI. Her proudest accomplishment was being one of the first online teachers for the flagstaff program, Virtual High School, founded in Maynard, MA. Monica resides in Seekonk, MA with her loving husband, Tommy of 45 years. They have two adult children, Kate and Andrew, two fantastic grandchildren, George and Charlotte, and a fur-baby, Cooper. When she is not at work, Monica enjoys walking with her neighbors, going to the beach and gardening. Her claim to fame is her famous New England Clam “Chowda”!

  • Suzanne Colby

    Suzanne M. Colby, Ph.D.

    Associate Director of Applied Learning, Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Deputy Director of the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies

    Suzanne Colby, PhD., is a Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the School of Public Health, where she conducts research in the area of tobacco regulatory science as well as on substance use interventions, primarily in youth and young adults.  She is Deputy Director and Associate Director of Community Engagement at the Center for Alcohol & Addiction Studies.  In the online MPH program, Dr. Colby serves as Associate Director of Applied Learning, where she provides policy leadership related to student practicum experiences and supports students whose placements require contractual agreements with Brown University.  When not working, Dr. Colby enjoys spending time in nature, especially at Rhode Island’s parks and shoreline.
