To empower more people who can help meet those challenges, we’ve reimagined our generalist MPH degree as a 100% online program. This allows working professionals from around the world greater access to a graduate education from one of the best universities for public health. 

Graduate students will enter the program with professional work experience, so they can meaningfully grow their careers and vitalize class discussions. The program offers merit-based scholarships for competitive applicants. 

For a limited time, we are also offering a Dean's Award for all accepted Summer and Fall 2026 applicants who do not qualify for merit-based scholarships. Please contact the Graduate Recruitment Coordinator to learn more.

The standard course sequence is designed to be completed across 24 months, however those who are interested in completing their coursework quicker can complete our intensive 12 month, accelerated course sequence. This sequence would allow you to complete up to 4 classes during a Fall, Spring and Summer semester.

As one of the country’s best schools for public health — ranked among the top ten schools for NIH funding — you will study with world-class faculty, scholars and practitioners. 

Equipped with an internationally respected MPH degree from Brown, our graduates go on to pursue further education and distinguished careers in government, politics, the nonprofit sector, healthcare, consulting and other areas.

A vital component of the online MPH is that, while the program is 100% online, you will be an integral part of the Brown University community, encouraged to participate in all university activities and experiences. 

Brown is an internationally recognized leader in public health research, and the School of Public Health is home to 14 nationally-renowned research centers. Faculty across the school's four academic departments educate students to become public health professionals equipped with the skills needed for success in the field today. Brown researchers work on the front lines of the most timely public health crises of our time, from reproductive health advocacy to the overdose crisis.
